Browntabbyworks is a small cozy shop located in Higashi-Osaka, known for selling vintage clothing, miscellaneous goods, and collectible tchotchkes. However, what the shop is probably best known for, and what separates them from most other vintage dealers anywhere in the world, are the signature in-house custom repair and remake services they offer.
The shop's modus operandi, in regards to repairs and upcycling, generally consists of a two-step process all done by hand. First, a carefully curated palette of colors is tastefully added to the clothes through paint splatter, then the shop goes on to add a beautiful tapestry of chain-stitching. The results: Pieces that move away from clothing, and towards art.
By breathing new life into old pieces, Browntabbyworks aims to recycle and extend the life of everything they put back out into the world.
For our latest collection here at Sillage we decided to team up with the incredible Higashi-Osaka shop after falling in love with their signature repair style - we asked them to process a small number of pieces from our Bleach & Denim series through their signature repair style, and ended up with a beautiful collection of unique coats, vests, pants, hats, and cardigans, all with an added sentimental value from the handmade nature of their work.
This is a limited collection; pieces were made in small quantities.
